A realm is the container for a setting. Creating one takes a name and nothing else. Everything below can be changed later, except the address the name gives it.
Create it#
- Open the app and choose New realm.
- Give it a name. This becomes its public address, so it must be unique across DMRealm and a few names are reserved. A name can be up to 160 characters but an address only 80, so a long name's address keeps just its first words. If another realm already uses that address, you are asked to pick a different name.
- Pick the game system if you already know it. This decides the shape of stat blocks and can be changed later.
- Create. You land on the realm's home with an empty workspace.
What to do next#
- Write three NPCs. They are the fastest way to feel how records and links work.
- Add a world (plane) and give it a region or two, even without a map.
- Link one NPC to one place by typing @ in its description.
Try it in the app
