Working with AI articles
How DMRealm uses AI
Assistance attached to what you are working on — not a chatbot in the corner.
AI in DMRealm is deliberately unglamorous. There is no single chat window you describe your world to. The tools sit on the pages where the work happens, and they already know what you are looking at.
What it can draft#
- NPCs, with motivations, voice, and hooks — and a portrait if you want one.
- Creatures and stat blocks, as a starting draft to adjust.
- Encounters, including tactics, complications, and rewards.
- Quests, factions and their rosters, items, and lore.
- Calendar holidays, and timelines extracted from what you have written.
- Session recaps and 'previously on' summaries from your journal.
- Rewrites of a passage you selected — expand it, tighten it, change its tone.
The shape of every AI interaction#
- You ask, from the page you are already on, optionally pointing at records with @.
- The app gathers relevant material from your realm — only what you are allowed to see.
- A draft comes back, as a private draft rather than a change to your world.
- You preview, edit, accept part of it, reject it, or ask again.
- Only when you accept does anything enter your realm.
Mosswick#
Mosswick is the companion in the app — someone to think out loud with, ask about your own realm, or get unstuck by. It works from the same permission-aware view of your world as everything else. A quick question fits the companion panel in the context rail; a longer line of thought belongs in the Companion workspace, where each chat is saved in the realm and can be picked up again later.
The quick panel's conversation and unfinished message belong to the current page. Moving to another page or realm starts fresh, and an old reply cannot arrive in the new page. Closing the panel stops an unfinished reply. Use the Companion workspace when you want to save a conversation and return to it later.
On a record page, the quick panel can use a short excerpt of the name, summary and visible overview text, including unfinished edits you can make. In the Directory it can use the current filtered records and search. It reads a limited set of connected records you are allowed to see, and treats guesses about your intention as guesses. Other pages currently report their context unavailable. Changing the record, tab or audience starts a fresh conversation; editing on the same page stops an answer based on the older text. Each question uses the current page rather than earlier replies; use the Companion workspace for a continuing conversation. The panel cannot send while you are offline. Player preview uses the player's view and hides the realm's suggestions.
