Creatures are the stat blocks in your realm. They are deliberately reusable: you write a thing once and adjust it where it appears, rather than copying numbers between encounters.

Families, variants, and context#

Family
A grouping — the wolves, the cultists, the constructs.
Variant
A difference from the base creature recorded as a delta rather than a copy, so the elite version and the standard one stay related.
Context set
Environment-tagged lore, tactics, and loot — the same creature behaves differently in a swamp than in a city.

Systems decide the shape#

A realm chooses the game system it uses, and that decides the shape of its stat blocks. Openly licensed reference creatures are included, so standard monsters do not have to be typed in by hand.
